All Austria is upset. The news of the murder of little Hadishat, a 7-year-old girl, in Döbling, a district of Vienna, has shocked the country. Although her body was found in a garbage container, many questions remain unanswered.
Hadishat had known her killer, Robert K., a 16-year-old Chechen national and a high school student, for years. On Friday afternoon, she had gone by herself to his apartment. But according to Robert himself, he was “having a bad day,” was “in a bad mood,” and was “in a mad rage.” But he could not explain why this was so to the investigators.
Robert confessed that he led the 7-year-old girl into the bathroom. He was carrying a kitchen knife, “a bread knife with a serrated blade of about 20 centimeters,” he later told the police. In the bathroom, he pushed the girl into the bathtub and then attacked her with the knife, striking her in the neck so hard that it almost decapitated her.
