Six teenagers were stabbed in just over 90 minutes last night as London faces an unprecedented wave of violence.
A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured after being stabbed in East London, and three youths were arrested for the attack, Newham police said.
Two 15-year-old boys were also in serious condition at the hospital after being stabbed at the Mile End about an hour earlier.
Hackney mayoral candidate Pauline Pearce, a Liberal Democrat, said that the recent epidemic of knife attacks and shootings in London were in part the result of young people feeling “deprived of their rights” by their environment. “They do not feel they have a connection to society, so a lot of things go wrong for them, and unfortunately this is the kind of retaliation that happens,” she said.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said the growing number of murders on the streets of the capital was “heartbreaking,” and criticized the government for making cuts in the police budget.
