A young woman is dead and 1,500 others were injured in a stampede that occurred during the broadcast of the Champions League final on June 3, 2017.
8 people were arrested in connection with the investigation, the Italian media reported on Friday. According to Repubblica, all the suspects in the case are of North African origin.
The 8 men are believed to have caused the crowd to panic by dispersing an irritating chemical spray into the crowd that was gathered in one of the main squares of the Piedmont capital. The group, which allegedly did this in order to steal valuables from people in the crowd, are suspected of having committed several similar crimes at other outdoor gatherings.
