According to the head of the ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) Jaroslaw Kaczynski, Poland is a member of the European Union, but it must not be ‘infected by the social diseases’ that dominate the European Union and the West.
On Sunday, September 2, he spoke at a party convention before the October local elections. He also defended the democratic record of his party and accused critics of serving ‘powerful interests and pacting with the world’s powerful,’ and clear linked the liberal opposition in Poland with Brussels.
‘If you want to serve society, the nation is much more difficult,’ he added. While underlining the need for Poland to remain within the Union, his party claims that the EU is obliging the Member States to comply with standards that oppose Poland’s traditional family values.
