Frosinone, Italy: A Nigerian migrant who attacked police has been released; Salvini promises change

Yesterday morning, Nigerian national Godsent Harmony, who has been living in a migrant center, went to the post office to pick up some money – apparently to play slot machines. The young man could not get the money, since his account was empty. Harmony then attacked the postal employees and the manager, who called the police for assistance.

When the officers arrived, the Nigerian hit Michele De Filippo in the ear, knocking him to the floor, unconscious. Still dissatisfied, the migrant moved a few steps away and picked up an iron bar, which he used to hit the unconscious man on the floor and one of his colleagues. Then, thinking that he had killed him, he fled the scene.

The police pursued Harmony and he was arrested nearby. The migrant then tried to again attack the officers, but they subdued him, and he was handcuffed and taken away.

The officer who was hit was treated in the hospital, and was granted 25 days of leave. Harmony was sentenced this morning by the Frosinone Court to two and a half years of imprisonment, and then immediately released. As an asylum-seeker, however, he cannot be deported.

“This is crazy, but the music will change soon!” vowed Matteo Salvini of the Lega party.
