‘hese photos were first posted in English on the social media on September 15th and reposted in six languages on September 25th. These languages include English, Hindi and Arabic but not French or Dutch.

The publications come from a page called ‘Immigration Department Belgium’ created on September 12, 2018. Although the page contains all the contact details of the Immigration Office (telephone, website address and e-mail address), the fact that it only appears in English was confusing.

‘This is indeed a page that was created by the Office des Étrangers at the request of Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration Theo Francken ‘, confirmed Dominique Ernoulx, spokesman for the Foreign Office. ‘It is managed in consultation with the firm of Theo Francken.’
