Calais (62), France: Migrants refuse “the state’s food, this enemy who chases them”

Nobody would have imagined that the asylum-seekers of Calais would boycott the meals that are being served to them by the state. But this is what happened on Friday.

While the state resumed food distribution on Tuesday after a shutdown of nearly seventeen months, migrants have not been going to the distribution points. And for those who do go, a good part of the 500 to 600 Eritreans, Ethiopians, and Afghans simply refuse it, saying that they will not accept “donations from an enemy who chases us,” explained young Oromo, who arrived a little more than four months ago “in the hell of Calais.”
