Berlin: An 11-year-old Polish boy was insulted and beaten by a gang in Neukölln; police say it was a “xenophobic” attack

The attack occurred last Sunday in Neukölln, which is the Berlin district that is most densely populated with immigrants in the city. A group of teenagers – four boys and a girl – approached the Pole and a 12-year-old friend who was with him. The teenagers began insulting and mocking the boy, referring to his country of origin, according to the Polish Radio IAR news agency.

Two of the teenagers then beat him in the face and ribs. The attackers fled before the police arrived. The Polish boy suffered facial injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he received medical assistance.

The case is being investigated as a xenophobic attack, the news agency said.
