Arson in Leipzig, Germany: One dead, 16 injured; a suspect, a Syrian migrant, has been arrested

Tragedy struck in Leipzig on Thursday night. One person died and 16 others were injured when a six-story apartment building on Wurzener Straße caught fire at around 11 PM. Reports vary as to whether the blaze began in a trash container behind the building or in a stairwell, but in either case, the flames quickly spread all the way up to the building’s attic. The police have arrested a suspect who they believe set the fire: a 32-year-old Syrian migrant who also lived in the building.
