A three-year-old boy had a severe chemical burn after being the target of a “deliberate attack,” West Mercia police in western England said Sunday.
The boy suffered serious injuries on his face and arm after being attacked at a Worcester store on Saturday afternoon. He was hospitalized. “We see this as a deliberate attack on a three-year-old child,” West Mercia Chief of Police Mark Travis said in a statement.
A 39-year-old man was arrested and detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit serious bodily harm.
The police also broadcast images of three men they wanted to interrogate. “Worcester is not the kind of place (where this type of attack occurs), we are a typical small English town,” he added.
